Privacy policy
This policy explains what information Watchsport collects when you use the app, how we use it, and your rights. Watchsport is operated by Graeme Geddes, based in Scotland, United Kingdom. We do not sell your personal data to third parties under any circumstances.
What we collect
We collect two categories of information depending on how you use Watchsport.
Guest users. If you use Watchsport without creating an account, we collect only anonymised analytics data through Google Analytics 4, and only if you accept cookies. This may include pages visited, time spent in the app, device type, approximate location (country or region), and how you arrived at the app. This data cannot identify you personally.
Account holders. If you create a Watchsport account, we collect your name, email address, and password (stored securely and never visible to us). We also store the preferences and data you create within the app, including your watchlist, favourite teams, and notification settings. If you opt in during sign-up, we also store your preference to receive our weekly fixtures digest email.
How we use your information
Your account data is used to provide and personalise your Watchsport experience — including saving your watchlist between sessions, remembering your favourite team, and enabling push notifications for matches you care about.
If you opted in to our weekly fixtures digest during sign-up, we will use your email address to send you a weekly summary of upcoming televised fixtures for your followed competitions. You can opt out of this at any time from your profile settings or by contacting us directly.
Analytics data is used solely to understand how the app is being used so we can improve it.
Your choices and opt-outs
You are in control of how we contact you. You can opt out of the weekly fixtures digest at any time via your profile settings. You can withdraw cookie consent at any time by clearing your browser cookies. You can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time from the Profile screen, or by contacting us via our contact form.
Data retention
If you delete your Watchsport account, your personal data and account preferences are permanently deleted within 30 days. During that window, if you change your mind, you can contact us via our contact form and we will do our best to restore your account. After 30 days, deletion is permanent and cannot be reversed.
Anonymised analytics data does not contain personal information and is not subject to the same deletion requirements.
Cookies
Watchsport uses analytics cookies placed by Google Analytics 4. These are only set if you accept cookies via the consent banner shown on your first visit. You can withdraw consent at any time by clearing your browser cookies.
